In fact I'm not aware of any virtualisation for SPARC at that level, other than Sun's LDoms, which requires Niagara/Rock family processors (sun4v?). You can use zones, but they are not the same thing. |

So far I dont see you can do it. I would like to use a basic alchemy system to convert plain dirt into solid gold. Anyone know how I can do this? Thanks in advance. Sorry, I couldn't help it |

Anyone know how I can do this? Thanks in advance. The cost of converting lead into gold is greater than the worth of the resulting gold so I would say converting dirt would be even more of a losing proposition. -- "Remain calm, we're here to protect you!" |

I imagine the cost of creating x86 emulation software for SPARC hardware is greater than the cost of new x86 hardware, likewise a losing proposition. |

Actually, the cost is free (yeah open source!): http://bochs.sourceforge.net/ and QEMU though it's support for sparc32 (I'm guessing they mean sparcv8) is not complete. http://fabrice.bellard.free.fr/qemu/ And the OP doesn't necessarily want x86 virtualization on SPARC, maybe they would like to run Ubuntu/SPARC inside (on-top-of) Solaris/SPARC, which you can do with QEMU.
