| "Can the Linux community get over its “not invented here” ideology which has often hindered its ability to adopt technological improvements from outside sources? I keep saying to myself, I hope so. But recent events have shown me that we have a long way to go until we become a culture of inclusion and not of exclusion and isolationism." http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=8769&tag=nl.e539 -RFH |

Way to post a bunch of FUD based on a poorly constructed straw man theory. -- "Remain calm, we're here to protect you!" |

Please do not add to this mindless cross-posting troll noise begin generated by this a-hole. Rather, kill-file him and all his Subject lines. If you use Google groups as I must for now have a look at the Firefox plugin at penney.org : > Not cross posted and Subject line killed too - G |

Hey, at least I have a real name. Care to make a rational explanation against cross-posting? What resource are you trying to save? Disk space? Have you ever administered an NNTP server? Are you worried about Google spending too much money on disk space? Is your screen too small? The article in question was about the different flavors of Unix*. In fact, I should have added the AIX NG and others. -Ramon F. Herrera |

I think most antagonism today is created by paid shills working for micoshaft trying to dis Linux and sell the WINDUMMY LIES. All the others are tiny by comparison. Certainly, most WINDUMMIES I meet today are totally confused and when their are opened they are angry about their investment they are going to loose and angry they it will take time to retrain themselves to back into Linux they may have tried a while back. Some even think Ubuntu IS windowps. As the messed up world of WINDUMMIES get strainghtened out by free software, there is going to be a lot more confusion and antagonism from with WINDUMMY camp mainly because of paid shills and WINDUMMIES working the newsgroups and blogosphere on behalf of Micoshaft Corporation. http://www.livecdlist.com http://www.distrowatch.com |

I keep saying to myself, I hope so. Well... those outside sources have to be willing to share. Before that is settled, it doesn't really matter what sort of NIH Linux is supposed to be suffering from. > But recent events have shown me that we have a long way to go until we > become a culture of inclusion and not of exclusion and isolationism." Anything interesting in the latest Solaris is already being worked on in Linux. So the idea that there is a NIH mentality is just silly. Ubuntu groupies laugh at Solaris groupies because Solaris seems like it's trying to play catch up and a lot of the new toys aren't things that excite a lot of us. Sun had it's chance to sell the whole lot of us Solaris x86 for $400 and didn't want to bother. > > http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=8769&tag=nl.e539 > > -RFH > -- If you think that an 80G disk can hold HUNDRENDS of ||| hours of DV video then you obviously haven't used iMovie either. / | \ Posted Via Usenet.com Premium Usenet Newsgroup Services ---------------------------------------------------------- http://www.usenet.com |
