Default Current status of 2-phase commit support?

Hi all,

Found some really confusing news on PostgreSQL supporting the 2-phase commit
protocol or not, so I thought it might be a good idea to ask the question
straight to the base: is 2-phase commit supported by Postgres, using JDBC to
access the database? And what about the issue "Postgres claims to support XA
but is really emulating it"?

Many thanks for your help.
