Default 1971 system date/time?

I run a small website with a content management system. When I posted a
new message I noticed that the timestamp was dated 1971, I forgot the
day and month, probably 1st of january since it was working fine today.
I posted another message, same thing happened. After that I wasn't able
to reach the server again (Ultra 5, Solaris 9, Apache2, PHP, MySQL). I
can't login through ssh as well.

Did the internal battery die or something like that? Haven't had the
time to connect a monitor, keyboard and mouse. And the console cable is
nowhere to be found (in the process of moving).
