| So, I've inherited a A1000 RAID system. Right now, it's set up to show itself to the machine as one single, big disk. Any idea how I can split it into two disks without losing the data already on it? I can't find a good procedure for it... |

The standard procedure is to move the data "somewhere else", either tape or another volume, destroy the big LUN, create 2 smaller ones, and move the data back in whatever way you want across the two new LUNs. Depending on how much data is there, this could take quite a while. -- DeeDee, don't press that button! DeeDee! NO! Dee... |

If on the other hand you have Veritas File system installed on the A1000 it is theoretically possible to defragment and shrink the filesystem, But i would not try that either without a backup to tape ( or other disk ) first. //Lars |
