| I've finished some more easier projects and I'm back to trying to get a machine deployed with Solaris 10 serving Calendar to a WAN; this is the biggest issue that I've had since I've been at the job I'm working at now and I've been trying to bend my head around it for about a month now. When I started out I accepted on faith that Calendar Server (by way of Commsuite 5) needed to have access to a working kerberos server and ldap directory; it took me quite awhile and I got those implemented on the WAN only to find out that they were not what Calendar needed; heavy customization would be required to use the OpenLDAP that I used and Kerberos doesn't seem to be required at all (although it is pretty handy on our network, so I don't consider that time wasted). So now I realize that I need to deploy Directory Server Enterprise Edition 6 in order to serve LDAP requests for Calendar in an acceptable format. Due to the terminology used in Sun's online documentation not being explained to those previously uneducated in Sun systems, it is difficult for me to determine if I am missing any more dependencies that DS or Calendar will require. I am planning on installing this on a completely fresh instance of Solaris 10 x86. Can anybody help me find information that would definitively state whether or not I am going to have other dependency issues? The installation process is alien enough to me even just with one package, at this point; I'm going to be taking some Sun courses in the near future, but this does not mesh with my deadline at this point. I would appreciate anything I can get at this point. Thanks for your time and help. -Damon Getsman |
