| I have installed a DHCP server on Solaris 8, and have configured it to service my bootp clients. However, when it responds to a client it Unicasts the response, and I need it to Broadcast the response. Can anyone tell me how to configure the server to do this? |

The server will do so automatically if the client sets the broadcast flag in its initial request, which any client written since 1993 should be doing if it has this limitation. I have the subnet mask set to 255.255.255.0 in the dhcp server. However, I don't believe it is working as it is not showinf up in the "subnet mask" portion of the "vendor info" field. Can you, or anyone else for that matter, clue me in? Thanks! |

We are using snoop to view the "broadcast dhcp/bootp bootreply" contents. In the dhcp manager I have the subnet mask set to 255.255.255.0. However, when looking at the "length" part of the "vendor information" field it shows onl zeroes, not ffffff00 as it should. Can you, or anyone else, clue me in as to why? Thanks! |

It's hard to understand exactly what you're saying is happening; probably the best way forward would be to post (or email to me) the snoop output of the entire transaction. Dave |
