Default DNS issue

I can successfully resolve FQDNs with "nslookup", but when I launch a
browser it whines that it cannot resolve any names. Why not?

TIA

nslookup talks directly to DNS, whereas most other programs follow
the directions in /etc/nsswitch.conf. Add "dns" to the hosts line
in your /etc/nsswitch.conf, and all should be OK.
