| Hello :-) I have some problem with my E3500 - everything works fine but I found that there is a X1026A installed and after some searching I found that this is a fiber-network interface (has to ports with two SC connectors each) and that there were in older versions of Solaris some packges named SUNWnf[x] with drivers and tools. But on my Solaris 10 CDs I can't find a driver for this card (not even docs). In diagnostic output I can see (prtdiag -v) a SBUS-card named nf. Any way to get this card working? BTW, is there any documentation about the BootProm for E3500, especially some hints to get a faster startup? TIA, Jan |

X1026A is a FDDI/S card. Future End-of-Support was announced back in Solaris 9: http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub...s_9/eolhw.html and fully removed from Solaris 10: http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817...gbi4fha?a=view http://docs.sun.com/source/817-6338-05/eos.html -- James Carlson, KISS Network <james.d.carlson@sun.com> Sun Microsystems / 1 Network Drive 71.234W Vox +1 781 442 2084 MS UBUR02-212 / Burlington MA 01803-2757 42.497N Fax +1 781 442 1677 |

Thanks for this peace of information - didn't see the announcement as we had skipped Solaris 9 for incomplatibility reasons of one of our software packages (under Solaris 10 everything seems to work fine) :-) Quite sad not to be able to use this card - but there will be no switch-back to Solaris 8 or 9. Will have to live with this.. Cheers, Jan |

I'd just try the S9 version of the driver on S10: properly written drivers should continue to work on newer OS versions. Agreed ... though, clearly, not *supported* when used past the end of the supported life. (FDDI? Really? Why? Is it a museum network? :-/) -- James Carlson, KISS Network <james.d.carlson@sun.com> Sun Microsystems / 1 Network Drive 71.234W Vox +1 781 442 2084 MS UBUR02-212 / Burlington MA 01803-2757 42.497N Fax +1 781 442 1677 |
