Is there any danger in enabling logging for the / and /var filesystems
on a Solaris 8 64-bit system???

No, just don't use the noatime option with logging. That will cause
corruption.

This was never a problem on Solaris 8.

For Solaris 9 it's fixed in patch 113454-11 (released a few weeks ago)
