| I have recently received a Sun server. I have no access to any user sessions including root. I would like to start with a fresh install of Sun 9. The problem is the install hangs. The install cannot get access to the hard drives. How can I force the new setup to overwrite/ignore the current setupon the disks? Thanks for any and all suggestions! |

| Hello and thanks for answering. I am sorry for the late reply but I had some late nights at work....other big problems. The server is a Sun 3500 with one gig of ram, five 9gig hard drives. I checked and it looks compatible with OS9. I can work thru the files that are on the system now so I do have access to the disks. I just dont have permissions. Sun mentions commenting out any file systems that cannot be mounted in the /etc/vfstab file. I think the goal is just to start with a fresh install. This box will be a very glorified workstation for development, admin practice and testing. I really dont want to even mirror the drives. I have had a couple years with HP but not with the Sun. Thanks for time and patience....assimilation is futile....I dont know Jack!
