| According to Google my last post to comp.sys.sun.admin was just over seven months ago: > From: Gregory <ccsqihg@herts.ac.uk> > Newsgroups: comp.sys.sun.admin > Subject: Re: ctl/caps swap in Solaris 8 > Date: Tue, 23 Mar 2004 19:10:42 +0000 > Organization: University of Hertfordshire In fact I have attempted to post three times since then but I only just realised that those posts never made it out of UH! From what I can gather, news stopped propagating out sometime between 2004-03-28 and 2004-05-12, but no-one noticed till last week! OK, so why am I telling you all this? Because I have switched to reading and posting to this group from a personal account rather than from the UH system and I wanted to create a record of the fact that I am the same Ian Gregory that has been posting to comp.sys.sun.admin from UH since 2001-03-16 (or possibly even earlier). I am still working as a Solaris admin at UH (but not the usenet admin I hasten to add!). ps, the reason I am using an invalid from address is that I got hit hard by SWEN at my UH address. In fact at one point my email address was receiving more viruses than all 30,000 other UH accounts combined, and had to be disabled to avoid overloading the virus checker! If you want to contact me personally there is a contact form on my website. -- Ian Gregory http://www.zenatode.org.uk/ian/ |

Please find a blog site that will cosset you accordingly, and come back here only if you have a question or statement of more merit. |

With all due respect Beardy, please think before you post. 1) Trim quoted material. If you think my post was OT then why repeat it in its entirety? (And why didn't you flag your response OT in the subject?) 2) I have posted over 200 times to this group over a period of 4 years, and have received email responses from around the world thanking me for the help I have given so I don't need to be lectured. 3) Given the problems caused by people posting to newsgroups with multiple identities for dishonest purposes I happen to think that it is good practice to specifically link to a previous identity when it becomes necessary to switch to a new one. The only other time I did this (which was in comp.sys.mac.system) I was praised by one of the regulars for doing so, reinforcing my notion that it was a good thing. I have nevertheless taken into account your criticism, and will consider it carefully. -- Ian Gregory http://www.zenatode.org.uk/ian/ |
