| Hello, We have an A5200 that we want to configure RAID5 using Solstic DiskSuite. I have the configuration for this using Soft Partitionin and then setting up a SAM-QFS filesystem on this RAID group. My question is that we have two controllers. Setting this up points t the devices off controller 2. How can I set it up so that if controlle 2 fails it will automatically go to controller 3 and stay online? Thanks - jillhughe ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted via http://www.webservertalk.co ----------------------------------------------------------------------- View this thread: http://www.webservertalk.com/message181993.htm |

The scsi_vhci driver receives naming and transport services from one or more physical HBA devices. To support multi- pathing, a physical HBA driver must comply with the mul- tipathing services provided by this driver. Currently, the fcp(7D) fibre channel SCSI protocol driver is the only driver to comply with the services provided by the scsi_vhci driver. Otherwise, for older releases sun storage traffic manager. Or as alternative choice, install Veritas Volumen manger, your A5200 will automaticaly enable the license for vxvm, then you can use VxDMP to multipath your controlers. -- Barbie - Prayers are like junkmail for Jesus I have seen things you lusers would not believe. I've seen Sun monitors on fire off the side of the multimedia lab. I've seen NTU lights glitter in the dark near the Mail Gate. All these things will be lost in time, like the root partition last week. Time to die. |

My experience has been that it is very slow especially on large volumes of data. SDS is great for the boot volumes and simple stripe/mirror configs but I would recommend either a hardware RAID controller and/or Veritas Volume Manager if you are considering a RAID5 configuration. rachel -- Rachel Polanskis Kingswood, Greater Western Sydney, Australia grove@zeta.org.au http://www.zeta.org.au/~grove/grove.html "They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security" - Benjamin Franklin, 1759 |
