Default Software for Sun Cobalt 3

A friend has purchased a used Sun Cobalt 3 (blue) and will no doubt want
me to configure it. I gather it runs linux, but is there a Sun version
for them, or do you just use any Linux? I'm hoping its the former.

How do you get software on them - there is no CD? Is it via a network
boot? Any advice on that appreciated.

Anything to be aware of? Any 'gotchas' ??

The documentation is a little different depending on if it is a Qube 3
or a Raq 3. A physical inspection should make it very obvious which
one you have.

Docs are at:
http://www.sun.com/hardware/serverappliances/eol.html

SunSolve has some good info as does a search of http://groups.google.com

OS restore instructions:
http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/docum...ey=1-9-70175-1

ISO images can be found at:
ftp://ftp.cobalt.sun.com/pub/iso/

Get the one that's right for your system and follow the instructions
referenced above.
