| Hi, We've got Solaris 10 (11/04) running on a Sunblade 1500, and I have a few questions. First off, is this the right version to be running? Are the patches available? Can't seem to find any on Sunsolve. We've hooked up a couple of 300GB Maxtor OneTouch firewire/USB2.0 drives to it. These drives seem to appear okay if hooked up via USB2.0, but the firewire detection seems to be very flaky, or am I doing something wrong? When using a USB flash disk, the Sun identifys that its there, but will not let me mount it up, even when specifying a pcfs filesystem type. Is there a better vfat/fat32 filesystem type I should specify? When using the Solaris Management Console, if I clock on the Enhanced Storage thing, it never actually comes up - it just hangs around saying that its loading. Anyone else had this? Network printing. The new printer administrator looks like using non-postscript printers such as the HP-1220C is going to be a doddle. But I'm just wondering if anyone has successfully set up a printer to print via a Netgear print server, or has had success printing to an HP Laserjet with a Jet Direct card. Thanks for reading this and for any advice. Paul ~~~~~~ |

Fixes go into the next released build, and you can "Live Upgrade". Don't know about the rest of your questions. t |

When the final release comes out, patches will be made available that apply to it, but you'll need to upgrade from previous beta/express releases to the final release before you can apply them to those. -- __________________________________________________ ______________________ Alan Coopersmith * alanc@alum.calberkeley.org * Alan.Coopersmith@Sun.COM http://www.csua.berkeley.edu/~alanc/ * http://blogs.sun.com/alanc/ Working for, but definitely not speaking for, Sun Microsystems, Inc. |

That's SOlairs Express 11/04, technically not the same thing as Solaris 10 which has not yet been released. >First off, is this the right version to be running? Are the patches >available? Is there a better vfat/fat32 filesystem type I should specify? No, that's the proper filesystem; are there any messages in /var/adm/messages? Casper |
