| Basically we wanted to see how JDS performs in a Sunray environment. We use Sunrays at work. I know we can install an x86 box with JDS on and dtchoose it but we thought we'd give x86 a chance running SRSS. So we built one but we find we can only get it to run fvwm as a window manager. Is this by default, after all it is a beta? We have to admit we AREN'T running JDS release 2, still release 1, SRSS 3.0 specifies 2, but it seemed to install ok.... JDS2 is on it's way so We'll try it when we get it but does anyone know if the fvwm thing is a 'feature' for this beta? We'd like to see a JDS desktop on a Sunray! Thanks Steve |

All bets are off if you use an unsupported release. I'm surprised Sun Ray even comes this close to working on JDS R1. > JDS2 is on it's way so We'll try it when we get it but does anyone know if > the fvwm thing is a 'feature' for this beta? If it doesn't do that when running on a supported release then that's a serious bug. (It might be a bug in the platform rather than in Sun Ray itself, but it's still a bug.) Yeah we knew we were batting on a sticky wicket doing this, but the absence of our copy of JDS 2 we couldn't resist. >> JDS2 is on it's way so We'll try it when we get it but does anyone know if >> the fvwm thing is a 'feature' for this beta? It seemed the SRSS install replaced the version of GDM, it specifically asked to do it as it was a requirement. Since then all the login windows and desktops have been fvwm-looking whether on Sunrays or on the actual server. We'll wait for JDS 2...... Thanks anyway! Steve |
