Hi Folks,

I am getting a Sun fire V210 with 2 hard-disk and thinking of using
"sun online disksuite " to mirror the 2 hdd.

1) Is "sun online disk suite" still available on "solaris 10
media kit" ?

2) Does it comes along the " how-to manual" in soft or hard copy?

3) Any comment on "sun online disksuite" comparing to "veritas
volume manager" ?

Its fully integrated into Solaris now, not even an addon package
bundled on one of the CDs.

I haven't seen a media set, so I don't know if the Documentation set
is done, but all docs are soft-copy at http://docs.sun.com/
Pretty easy to follow.

Hi ,

Appreciate your info.

1) If Veritas Volume Manager is configure on Solaris 10, is it
necessary to take out
"sun disksuite" from the OS?

2) "Sun disksuite" fully integrated mean it can be done on full GUI
level or still on
command line or menu level as in "disksuite version 4.0" ?

Jhayi-Solaris version of volume manager is embedded in the OS. You can
bring it up by doing #smc & (solaris management console). There is
also documentation for it, soft copy pdf. Major diff is the number of
partitions used for encapsulating root drive. Veritas also cost $$$
where Sun VM doesnt'
