Default SUN PCI III card -- Red LED blinking

Hello all,

I recently installed a SUN PCI III card into my Blade 100. I put Win2k on
the card and created a 10gb virtual drive. The card "boots" up with no
problem and I'm able to get on the network. However, I have two small
problems.

1. When I am *not* running the sunpci software, the Red LED light on the
card blinks constantly. I can't find much info on what this diagnostic light
might mean. Has anyone had similar problems?

2. I notice when I'm running certain programs on the card (i-tunes for one),
the screen redraw is a bit slow. It's not unacceptable but it's definitely
slower then what I would think an AMD 1.4ghz chip should do. I'm going to
try and plug the monitor directly into the cards video-out. Any one had this
happen to them as well?

Thanks very much

Mike

For question #1 I don't know.

For #2 I have seen this on my SunPCI-2 card. Some dialog boxes like the
shutdown buttons screen with draw REALLY slow. I just live with it.

Lyle

Yes the same - not sure.
The Sun alternative to the Microsoft Blue Screen maybe ?

I'm shipping out to a Ray 1g at 1600x1200 from a Blade 100
and have no complaints. Mouse and screen is sometimes a
little 'rubbery' but its damned quiet and most of the
time you do not notice. It is bound to be a bit slower
as you are running through X, but you can throw it around
machines just like a regular X-Window - nice.

I'm sure a native connection will give you a much
faster response.

Are you running SunPCI 3.1 or earlier? This is bug 4922158 which is
fixed in SunPCI 3.2 - the "blinking red LED" condition means nothing and
can safely be ignored.
