| Here's one for ya... Have an Sun Ultra (Enterprise) 2 running Solaris 8, all patched etc. Veritas VM 3.2 and an Oracle 9.2 database on raw devices. 3 external disk packs, which are connected in line to the internal controller. 2 internal disk within system unit = 5 disks total. All under Veritas control in two volume groups. Also have an SBus Wide SCSI controller that's not being used. Have installed Suncluster 2.2, and would like to play using single machine as a two node cluster. SC2.2 utils work fine - e.g., hastat, etc, but can't seem to start clustd - it writes to /var/adm/messages - cannot assign IP address 0.0.0.0 to hme0:1 (or something along those lines!) Have two separate ethernet controllers (hme0 and qfe0). One is connected to my PC, the other to my Linux machine. This system is not set up as a gateway. Can I set this up? Is it do-able? scinstall will let you create a one node cluster, but I get some s-t-r-a-n-g-e stuff happening (i.e., cannot assign IP address 0.0.0.0 to hme0:1 within /var/adm/messages) Any ideas why this is? Has anyone got any experience of setting up single node 'clusters'? Anyone got any ideas?? Cheers! |

Effectively to get SunCluster 2 going you need two systems can be any sun box, however the guru's will say two simular/identical configs, to reduce headaches. shared disk storage with at least 2 NICS per system, one for the private interconnect, and the other for the 'public' network. Even then I'm doubtful that it will be happy, as it tends to like at least 2 interconnects. Then you are going to need to have a terminal concentrator for the console screens, I'm not sure if this is mandatory, in cluster 3 it isn't. Cheers Joe. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
