I suggest to install the latest USB patch... - Solaris 8: 109896-24 SunOS 5.8: USB and Audio Framework patch - Solaris 9: 115553-06 SunOS 5.9: USB Drivers and Framework Patch .... and if possible, reconfigure the system to use all USB ports with the new USBA 1.0 framework, see the "Solaris USB Dual Framework Guide" at http://www.sun.com/desktop/whitepapers.html for details (page 7 / page 9). |

In the past, running usba1.0 only was not officially supported but now it is and highly recommended. Note that on s10 SX, we only have usba1.0 drivers and no dual framework the next SX release will have usba2.0 with all USBA driver interfaces now part of the DDI A new DDK (2.0) is in the works fritS |

IIRC, that was supposed to happen Sometime Soon (hopefully with an option to disable it in environments where it wasn't desirable for any random user to download all the goodies); although I haven't seen any evidence that it has happened yet.
