Default using IOLAN terminal server for serial console

fter searching around I still have a couple doubts about how to use a
Chase (Perle) 16-port IOLAN terminal server to provide remote access
to serial consoles.

How do I specify which serial port to connect to after I telnet into
the terminal server?

What type of cables do I need? I think the IOLAN serial ports are DB9
connectors. The consoles I need to connect to are:

Sun Netra X1 (RJ45 serial)
SunFire V100 (RJ45 serial)
Sun Enterprise 420R (DB25 serial)

Do I need DCE or DTE cables?

I did consult this page:

http://www.conserver.com/consoles/iolancons.html

This helpful page mentions that the Netra T1 has a console port wired
like a Cisco router's console port. It doesn't mention the X1 though.
Any advice?

Anyone out there with this configuration? Please help!

TIA

Each serial port has a separate telnet port so you can simply telnet
onto the IOLAN box with an appropriate port number to get to the serial
line.

You can also telnet directly onto the IOLAN to configure the serial ports.

It's worth creating a wrapper script so you can specify the machine name
rather than the, less memorable, port number.

These two use the same cable as Netra T1 and quite a few of the other
low end entry servers.

For good cabling info see this webpage.

X1, T1 and Cisco use the same port configuration.
