Default V120 with 2X146GB disk drives - will it work?

This configuration is not officially supported by Sun, but one of our
resellers says there's no reason it *shouldn't* work.

This is strictly a trade-off for us, we need a low-cost server with
large disks, 73GB are IMO too small in the long run (the server will be
a backup server with a disk staging area), while moving up to V210's and
above, increases the cost so much MGMT may say no.

Provided there's no power issues (and I doubt there are), yes they'll
work. SCSI is much better in this regard than IDE.

I would be concerned about temperature. I believe 146 gig drives are
still new enough that they run hotter than their 73 and 36 gig siblings.
That could be an issue if the airflow in the V120 can't handle it.

Otherwise I agree that it shouldn't be a problem.

Okay, thanks to both of you. The way I see it is yes it would work, but
I won't recommend it to MGT in a mission critical environment.
