| Hi everyone, For all of you who have a keen interest in discussing anything relating to Sun Microsystems hardware, software and other related Sun and non-Sun hardware and software products, the SunShack at "http://www.sunshack.org" is proud to announce the availability of web-based online forums which are open for everyone to use. You can go direct to the forum index at "http://www.sunshack.org/phpBB2" and explore the forums that way, or you can use the new Online Forum Entry page at "http://www.sunshack.org/forums.html" if you'd like a SunShack-styled menu of available forums. If you have any problems with registering or accessing the forums please let me know. If you have any suggestions for new forums, please also let me know as I've created a series of forums based on my own experiences and understanding of the Sun user/owner/enthusiast community, though that's not guaranteed to be 100 percent on-the-mark! 8-) Regards, Craig. -- Post by Craig Dewick (tm). If you have any suggestions for new forums, please also let Suggestion: use these newgroups instead. Web-based forums are harder to use, harder to search, and offers nothing more for me (as a user) than Usenet news does. Just my two cents. -- Torfinn Ingolfsen, Norway |

Whole-heartedly agree. Usenet is the way, especially for the Unix admin! There is nothing yet that beats NNTP for convenience. -- Andre. Email: andre at africa dot purplecow dot org. |

| Yea I agree. Most UNIX vets can't stand anything gui related, especially some cludge web-based interface that is cumbersome and slow. (not saying your site is, just in general) Google's is the best yet but still irritating to use. Man, I miss using plain old tin for my usenet access. Quick, efficient, easily searchable, etc.... -cc |

I doubt I'll use your forums. One newsgroup (and I guess forum) I'd like to see would be devoted to parallel code on Suns (SMP, Suns tools for SMP, Message Passing Interface (MPI) etc). I know setting up MPI on a Sun trying to work with a Linux box was not easy task. I know there is a parallel newsgroup, but one on Sun specifically might not go amiss. |
