| I just started to download Solaris 10. I got to the part about the license agreement and discovered that I could not read or print the license agreement!!!! (I'm using Microsoft IE v6.0) (Netscape v7.2 doesn't work either) The lines do not wrap to screen width. The only way to read it is to pan back and forth. The print preview has the same problem. I sure as hell cannot agree to something I cannot read or print. Getting it right is not rocket science! Neither is noticing that you have screwed up! I'm going to decline the agreement and give up. Sun does not lose any revenue directly but, since I won't have Solaris 10, I won't need support. . . . Sun looks more and more like a company in complete disarray. . . . |

A company that can't make its technical support work right is going to have problems selling support. Does Sun sell anything but systems and support? Did Sun, perhaps, lose a lot of its good people and keep the dregs? |

| I, too, downloaded Solaris 10. After reading all kinds of negative opinions about it, I refuse to install it. I surf in these groups with the hope that, perhaps someday, I'd find some positive news about this OS that will motivate me to install it. In the meantime, I will not hold my breath. "Richard B. What are the negative things that you've heard? Josh |

I was going to order some "Smart Cards" a few days ago from their web site. I only needed a few, but decided to go ahead anyway and order their minimum quantity for about a hundred bucks. That is, until I learned that shipping (they must weigh about a pound) would be another 30 bucks. 30% for shipping! On something for which actual shipping costs are probably about 5 bucks! What's up with that? BTW, the original poster can accomplish what he needs by selecting and cutting the agreement and pasting it into Notepad or any word processor. At least, that's what I did. That also makes it searchable. -- The e-mail address in our reply-to line is reversed in an attempt to minimize spam. Our true address is of the form che...@prodigy.net. |

There are some very helpful people here who know what they are doing - not the self-styled "experts" that you find on the windows related newsgroups that have not got a clue. If 1) You have a problem with Solaris and you describe it properly. 2) You make an effort to try to resolve it yourself. 3) Ask on here you are very likely to get a solution in quite a short space of time. I use Solaris day-in-day-out and naturally I have hit the occasional problem but I've never had a problem that can't be resolved or worked around in some way. I can't say the same for Linux or Windoze. > I surf in these groups with the hope that, > perhaps someday, I'd find some positive news about this OS that will > motivate me to install it. In the meantime, I will not hold my breath. If you are going to take a very negative attitude, then perhaps it is best you don't install it. If you take that attitude you will probably have problems and if you make posts slagging off the OS with no objective real basis, you are unlikely to get much help. -- Dave K MCSE. I can't say the same for Linux or Windoze. Perhaps your problems with Linux and Windows (your spelling speaks volumes regarding your objectivity) are the result of the self-styled "experts" that you referred to earlier? Josh |
