| I'm trying to help a friend install Solaris 10 on his Sunfire V120. He is using a PC with Teraterm, but had problems selecting a terminal type. I assumed vt100 would bee the most sensible choice, so he set that on both Teraterm and on the Solaris install. But he says when selecting the country/locale for support, he needed some arrow keys but these would not work. Any idea how things should be selected on that menu? He tried all combinations (tab, shift tab etc), but says he could not navigate to the right bits. He then tried another (we think it was x terminal emulator), and as I write he is trying again. Apparently function keys now function, but still no arrow keys, so he can't set the country. Any idea of the best terminal to select during the Solaris install, and the best setting for Teraterm? I know about the 8N1 settings, but this is a terminal type. I'm pretty sure setting vt100 on both should work, but he can't it to work, and not being there I can't really try myself. What sort of serial cable do you need to go from one serial port (RJ45 on these boxes) to another RJ45? One option, which I can't see being necessary, but might be easier, is if I ssh to his T1 and connect to the V120 via a serial cable and install Solaris using tip. |
