BTW, Sylpheed-claws is also fine under Linux, Windows, and most other
OSes you'd like to use.

I use nmh, with exmh sitting on top when I want a graphic interface.

I don't know about most popular - I use Sun's Mozilla 1.4, and before
switching to the Netscape/Mozilla line, used CDE dtmail, and know many
others who use one of those two - and a few who use Evolution.

For CLI access to mail, I've been happily using mutt for years.

I use Mozilla 1.7b happily. I've changed many times and keep on coming back to
Netscape/Mozilla. It does everything I want from a mail tool :-)
