Is Sun offering > X windows driver to be installed fullfill new Hardware in Market ? Monitor size is measured differently in different countries. It used to be the distance between opposite corners of the tube. In UK (possibly all EU) and Canada I believe, it is now legally defined to be distance between corners of the viewable area. So you can see strange things on monitor boxes such as 17" monitor (16" in UK and Canada), when it's always the same monitor in the box. I suspect your situation arises because you are in a country where it will be sold as a 17" monitor, but the plug-and-play data returned is the viewable area, since this is used for working out the dot pitch, and hence the font and icon sizes. -- Andrew Gabriel |
