Default 32 bit and 62 bit compatibility

I purchased a Series EM64T from a software vendor who is aso an IBM
dealer.

Unbeknown to me, they put the 32 bit O/S on it. It turns out the
application software is 32 bit and they had probs.... whtever.

As I believed I had a 64 bit O/S I installed some Informix software. It
was when testing this that I discovered I only had a 32 bit O/S.

What are my sensible options?

If I keep it as it and replace my 64 bit Informix software will I be I
the position of not utilising the hardware?

Are there any other probs I may have with a 32 bit O/S running n a 64
bit machine? Currently I have Informix SE (32 bit) Informix SQL (64
bit) and Informix ESQL (32 bit). It was ISQL that failed of course.

If I send the machine back to have the O/S reinstalled (64 bit) what
are the problems I could run in to?

Any help would be appreciated.

Kate

Default Re: 32 bit and 62 bit compatibility

32 bit versions of S/W should run on 64 bit hardware without any
issues. If you need to run software/products that takes full advantage
of 64 bit hardware, it would be better to upgrade to 64 bit version of
the O/S.

For the products that you have listed below, you are really not
utilising any of the hardware capabilities.
