| We are preparing a Cluster with the following configuration: 2 X p570 4X2 ways processor machines, 32 GB Memory, AIX5L V5.3, HACMP 5.3 2 X Storage DS4700/DS4000 Expansion, 2 X SAN16B-2 Switch Informix 10.00.FC5W3, HDR, 24 GB reserved for the informix buffer pool Testing the environment on loading the database from ascii-files, we have got unforced shutdowns on AIX. The message in the system log is: "Shutdown by user" - nothing else. However, no user shuts AIX down!!! After that we have made several test and we are now able to shut down AIX again and again using a set of parallel jobs: a) database load from ascii files b) two simple copy jobs via nfs copying several files from annother host Just a minute before the abnormal system shutdown the following message will be displayed in the terminal windows of the copy job: "Not enough memory available". As a side effect, may be, the application volume group will be unmounted. After the first crashes we have reconfigured paging space to 16 GB. We think this amount should be enough. For the engineers at ibm (these are already some more then in the beginning) havn' t had a solution to the problem yet we'll ask the community of AIX/Informix users. Hope we'll soon get able to change to a productional system. Peter Heep |
