| Dear Informixers, for many years, I have been using PERFORM masks for recurrent data maintenance tasks. Simple to maintain and to use, and I especially liked the LOOKUP functionality. Now we will be dumping the SINIX platform for all of our frontends, and together with that, dump the Informix frontends for that platform, too. Querix Hydra is a very fine replacement for I4GL, running on Linux, but is there any alternative for PERFORM? I tried Dave Snyder's DB4GLGEN, which creates simple PERFORM-style 4GL applications. It takes some tweaking to use that with Querix, and I'd have to do even more programming to add something like LOOKUP. Are there any other alternatives to PERFORM that provide LOOKUP functionality and don't require a lot of programming? They should either run on Linux in ASCII mode or on Windows, and should ideally be freely available. It would be hard to justify additional costs in the range of ISQL for Linux. Regards, Richard |
