| Hello everybody, I had a interesting telephone call from a kollegue working as a service provider for informix products. He is very angry about all the (non existing) information, that can (not) be found about "What's going on with informix ?" He also knows about what Janet said, but he does not know what will be in two, three or four years. He stated out to give the advice to his customers better to move to oracle when they are looking for a solid, good db product. Okay, this is only one voice, but ibm has to be more aggressive in saying where to go tomorrow. For me informix is a fantastic product !! The biggest dbs are used for SAP ERP and BW. SAP says it does not matter, what is running "below". This can be true for many other customers. I cannot imagine ibm is willing to loose all customers to oracle or mysql or whatever. WE are still looking for java and unicode support for SAP, but it is still NOT available. 1 Billion $ might be not really much money for ibm, but loosing cutomers can not be their real target. This will be much more expensive. And yes there are numerous IBMers following this newsgroup. Mostly techies I might add. I find it amusing that the colleague of yours claims to know what Janet says but not know what happens 2-3 years from now. Seems more like this person doesn't _believe_ or _trust_ what Janet says.
