| Hi all, I would like to share here one of my recent experience and would like to thanks Obnoxio The Clown for his excellent script "DBPING". Recently our web application and security team have migrated new web & application server into production. Every thing went all right. Web team has got some sort of monitoring process in place, which does a dummy login to database server every 15 mins. They mentioned that every night connections are being dropped out between 10:15 PM to 5AM. I started looking at online log but nothing suspicious there. Looked at cron jobs, nothing suspicious. Then I used OTC's DBPING, which is an excellent piece of work. I slightly modified that script to include date and time & threshold value to check and put "####" for those responses which meet threshold criteria so that I can easily identify from DBPING log file. Now I have been able to identify some of the issues with database server during that point in time. Well done OTC. |
