| One of the tenants I've always adhered to when tuning RDBMS is that logfiles and datafiles should always be on separate physical devices if at all possible in order to exploit the nature of sequential reads vs. writes. Is there any reason this strategy should not be applied to an IFX installation? What would you suggest as an optimal strategy (in broad strokes as I understand much of this is situational...) for laying out datafiles vs. logs? Thanks Friends, Tam. |

It's one of the tenets I've adhered to. Adhering to tenants could be considered stalking, you know. ;o) I like to have a separate spindle (or spindles) each for root, llogs, plogs, a different set for temp and a different set for data, as many spindles as possible. Of course, you can't always get that, but that's what I like. -- Bye now, Obnoxio "... no bill is required as no value was provided." -- Christine Normile -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by OpenProtect(http://www.openprotect.com), and is believed to be clean. |
