I've notices a few entries in the "Whatcha want?" thread which
indicates that there is a desire to improve the HA solution using ER.
I'm a bit confused about this and would like to open a new thread to
discuss this issue a bit further.

I've got a couple of questions...

1) Why is ER being used for HA instead of HDR?

I'm rather proud of the work we've done in ER and have some really
cool stuff in place for 9.5, but ER is not as easy as HDR to set up
for HA. Also, HDR supports sync mode which ER does not.

2) What are the specific things that are needed to improve the HA
story for ER?
