| Hi, Looking for advice on a file system backup of our IFX servers. We have noticed that system performance goes in the dumper when we are performing a daily file system backup. We are currently using cipo for this task. Is there a better 3rd party tool that you folks have experience with, and, that seems to mitigate this problem? Any other suggestions or advice? Thanks in advance for your help. Tam. |

I'm a bit curious why performance should suck when running an OS backup ... possibly your tape drive isn't setup correctly? -- Bye now, Obnoxio "... no bill is required as no value was provided." -- Christine Normile -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by OpenProtect(http://www.openprotect.com), and is believed to be clean. |

Additional questions: - Are your Informix dbspaces in raw devices or cooked files? If cooked files, in which type of filesystem are they places (ext2, ext3,Reiser,...)? - What are your parameters used for backup operations (block size,...). I assume that you use cpio (you said cipo)?! Darko Krstic |
