| Greetings, Does anyone who attended the Informix Users Forum 2006 in Washington (DC) remember a question (and answer) regarding how IBM would handle Informix licensing on HP Dual core machines? We have been very pleased with Informix running on 64 bit HP-UX Itanium boxes. HP is moving to release dual core versions of its Integrity servers next month, but if our licensing costs double, we will be forced to buy the old single core chips. As I remember the answer each core of a dual core CPU would be equal to .5 CPU's, so if this was the case, the total cost would be the same as one CPU - this licensing would be in line with the dual core licensing from *racle. Does anyone else remember the answer? I am getting a different story now (dual core will need 2 CPU l licensees) from our maintenance rep. Thanks, Daniel |
