| I have just received a brochure from IBM partnerworld with At A Glance , Enablement and Certification Opportunities for Software Business Partners for January - June 2006. And, surprise, surprise, it is still showing the Brand as DB2 as they would have had problems fitting "Information Management" onto the index tab. And to add insult to injury there is absolutely nomention of Informix that I can see. Maybe the IIUG should take this up with IBM management at the earliest possible opportunity. regards Malcolm |

It is precisely brochures such as the one you have discovered that are what will kill Informix. Not the product's quality or technology. But an inability on the part of IBM to make a clear non-ambiguous statement of fact. The product manager says one thing ... the brochure clearly doesn't support the smiling marketer's statement. The customer ... when faced with a choice ... is going to be responsible and take the safest route to protecting both their employer and their family's income. It is sad. -- Daniel A. | Just thought I would let you all know that the IBM wheels are still churning. I have now been contacted by IBM and told that the rebranding of DB2 into Information Management (IM) will be kicked off at the IBM kick off in January 2006. Now should we all request that the Brand Name should be Information Before Management? Malcolm |
