Default Installing 9.30.UC5 on SuSe 8.1

Hi all,

For the first time I try to install Informix 9.30.UC5 on my SuSe 8.1 system.
I choose for the installation by 'rpm'.
Trying to bring it up for the first time, doing oninit -ivy, the procedure
is aborted in the
phase 'Bringing up ADM VP....'. Then it stops.

Anybody an idea why? Where can I find information about this problem? I've
looked on the
documentation CD but not such problem.

thanks!!

danny

Isn't this the well-documented problem with glibc, discussed many times in
cdi?

Use dejanews or iiug newsgroup archive checker to see full discussions, but
here was an answer posted in may by Ronald Cole:

"Anyway, Red Hat *horribly* botched glibc-2.3.2-4.80. You'll need to
be getting and installing glibc-2.3.2-4.80.6 so your stuff works again.
See the Red Hat RHSA-2003:089-11 advisory for more info."

to which Walter Haslbeck replied:

"you wrote about a glibc update for SuSE Linux 8.1. But there is no glibc
update (yet) for SuSE Linux 8.2 (which contains glibc-2.3.2-6)."

Update to glibc-2.2.5-165 (the original glibc-2.2.5-152 on CD was not really
built for i686). Available at
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/upd...5-165.i686.rpm

Hi all,

Thanks for all the suggestions.
The solution was the upgrade of the SuSe glibc-2.2.5-165 library.

THANKS!!!!!
