Hi All,

I have been using the Informix Server/client on same mechine (RHEL WS
4).
I have configured odbcinst.ini and odbc.ini manually, but could not
connect to informix database using isql utility with informix ODBC
driver.It throws error message "ISQL Error: Could not SQLConnect".But i
am able to connect through dbaccess(informix server tool).

The versions of the Informix and unix ODBC driver manager

Informix Dynamic Server Version IBM.IDS.9.40.UC2E1.cpi
INFORMIX-Client SDK Version 2.90.UC3
unixODBC 2.2.9

This "isql" utility, is it the Informix provided product ISQL that has
character based forms and reports?

If so, it does not use ODBC to connect to the database, it can only use
native connections

try "isql -v", that should give you more details.
With older Informix drivers it should work (look at
"http://www.unixodbc.org/doc/informix.html"), with newer drivers i am
not sure...

If you are trying to use the Informix-SQL "isql" command, make sure that
$INFORMIXDIR/bin is at the front of your PATH environment variable, or you may
be running a utility of the same name from

which is preloaded on some Linux distributions (SuSE in my case).

If this is what you intended to run, then I'm afraid I get the same problem as
you after following the manual installation instructions given on their Web
site, and Google shows others having similar problems with Informix but no
solutions. Have you tried downloading and installing a later version of
unixODBC?
