Hi. i have an hpux system running informix 7.31 which includes onbar
and informix storage manager ISM. I’ve configured (i think) ism to
backup to hard disk by adding an informix user administrator an adding
a device type=file pointing at some directory i created. i set
BAR_BSALIB_PATH to $INFORMIXDIR/lib/libbsa.sl on my onconfig file.
When i run unbar -b to create a backup i get this on my bar_act.log:

2005-08-31 20:23:23 11304 11302 /u/informix/bin/onbar_d -b
2005-08-31 20:23:23 11304 11302 Logical Logs will not be backed up
because LTAPEDEV value is /dev/null
2005-08-31 20:23:25 11304 11302 Begin level 0 backup rootdbs.
2005-08-31 20:23:25 11304 11302 Successfully connected to Storage
Manager.
2005-08-31 20:23:25 11304 11302 XBSA Error (BSACreateObject): A
system error occurred. Aborting XBSA session.
2005-08-31 20:23:26 11304 11302 /u/informix/bin/onbar_d: process
exit 3 (0x03)

Nothing is reported on ISM log direcories. Any ideas? Thanks.

It is getting to ISM, otherwise you wouldn't get a "Successfully
connected to Storage Manager" message. Re-check how you are collecting
the ISM log information. Hope this helps.

Well, I’m kind of short on ISM documentation, coould you perhaps tell
me where can I find some? I think maybe the problem is I’m trying to
backup to disc, but I’m not sure how can i configure ISM to acomplish
this.
