| I'm preparing a quote for a customer under Passport Advantage. They want a price for Online 5. The cost for 25 users is about £15k (part number D6DHNLL). But there is an "Online extended edition for Linux" (D51ZILL) at one-thord of the price. Sounds ideal, as my client wants to move to Linux. Does anyone know what this product is? Is it a special promotion for Linux? if so, it's not mentioned on the website. thanks Neil |

It has some limitations of 5.10 removed. Most notably the 2GB limitation of chunk size. Is it available in Linux on an unlimited user license basis? |

| No, it's all per session, according to PA. Well, according to my interpretation of PA to be precise. But it's available on Linux for 25 users at £4275, and all other platforms for £14,975. I wonder why IBM aren't making a fuss about this? Incidentally, DB2 Express for the same number of users is £2,550 ... Yes, and somehow they still can't sell it to Informix users... > "rkusenet" <rkusenet@sympatico.ca> wrote in message > news:c0u358$1c4dak$1@ID-75254.news.uni-berlin.de... >> >> "Neil Truby" <neil.truby@ardenta.com> wrote in message >> news:c0u2v1$1artp0$1@ID-162943.news.uni-berlin.de... >> > I'm preparing a quote for a customer under Passport Advantage. >> > >> > They want a price for Online 5. However, you can specify a chunk offset that is bigger than 2 GB, so you can create a series of chunks, each of size 2 GB, in a single disk. The other big difference is that I-Star comes with the product and is not a separate purchase. -- Jonathan Leffler #include <disclaimer.h> Email: jleffler@earthlink.net, jleffler@us.ibm.com Guardian of DBD::Informix v2003.04 -- http://dbi.perl.org/ |
