Hi all,

I'm trying to install IDS 9.40.UC1 on Linux RedHat 7.2.
Our server meets all the system requirements given in
ids_machine_notes_9.40.txt.

"oninit -i" fails, with this trace:

"oninit -is" works a bit more: the databases sysmaster and sysutils are not
built, but the server boots, in quiescent mode.
"onmode -m" then fails with the same error than "oninit -i".

No answer from Informix Tech Support at this time.

Any idea ?

Maybe there is something wrong in environment. Try the sample sqlhosts.std
and onconfig.std in $INFORMIXDIR/etc as templates for sqlhosts and onconfig
(in same directory) for minimal testing. In sqlhosts use server demo_on
with onipcshm, replace on_hostname with simple hostname dat3ix (check
/etc/hosts for dat3ix entry). In onconfig check ROOTPATH (existing file
with user:group informix:informix, permissions 660), MSGPATH, LTAPEDEV
(/dev/null, for minimal testing only!), DBSERVERNAME (demo_on). Mininmal
environment exported should be INFORMIXDIR, INFORMIXSERVER,
PATH=$INFORMIXDIR/bin:$PATH . For initializing/starting the server you can
use the verbose option '-v' in addition.

did you succeed to run IDS 9.4 on Linux ?
I installed the new release 9.40.UC2 on the RH 7.2 whithout any problem.
Did you install new rpm after the RH installation ?
Can you post the result of oninit -iv
Can you post the result of ldd $INFORMIXDIR/bin/oninit ?
