Unlike certain members of the board I notice. What the hell have you got against 4js? Didn't you use to work for them? Cheers, Pete |

Maybe Terance has also noticed that 4Js have entered the RDBMS market with "Genero DB", which might be expected to create some lively debate about their suitability to be an IIUG "Gold Sponsor"? There's a press release here: http://www.4js.com/templates/en/1/af...ent=6_1&id=174. It's very informative. An un-named company has spent an undisclosed amount of money on Genero DB, to run their unspecified application. |

Maybe it would be good to enhance the FAQ to note what the options are, and simply let the reader decide. Quite honestly, if you have a good programmer, and good team, and they are tasked to deploy an app in XYZ tool, what does it really matter? I mean 4GL might be good in one instance, and totally inappropriate in another--who cares? The bottom line is that they are actually using Informix, which is driven by the XZY application. So that in and of itself makes a compelling story, that you would even have the myriad of options to connect to the data base with. _THAT_ is the story, you should tell everyone what you're using and spread the word. Maybe there's something out there that we should all be aware of that makes it better for the "end-user experience". For example, I was reading lately how Microsoft typically encourages their developer team to deploy their applications that are tied to a major product, as close as possible to the same date as whatever the product is being announced. In the case of Informix, wouldn't it be awesome to see some XYZ application announced at the same time there is a product announcement. This is not rockets science, it builds momentum, and enhances the core product, in our case Informix. Where are the coding contests? the challenge of using the product? I mean really so far it's been beyond anemic, it's beyond comatose, it's at zombie level... |
