Putting in other words, if a user exists on both client & server machine, and the passwords are different, the server machine password has to be supplied during connection. Side note: A connection can also be made without specifying username & password. In this circumstance, the concept of trusted machine, trusted user or sqlhosts settings come into picture. This is the default user who is an Win OS-level user. If the change the password of the user does this conflict with the database's ability to authenticate the user? Also can we create users at Win OS level and assign them to either Informix-Admin or IX-USERS?
