You can use CSDK (i.e ODBC, OLEDB, ESQL/C, LIBC++ and .NET ) ...you should
be able to download the same from the following link ...Once you install
the CSDK go to the $INFORMIXDIR/demo directory and you can see various
demo sub-directories ... $INFORMIXDIR is where you installed your CSDK.

I am writting small program and I need to connect to Informix database.
Program should run under Solaris 8 and compile using gcc 2.95.3. Are
there any free libraries to use?

Can enybody help me?
