We had this a long time ago with 7.30 or 7.31 (there was a bug that
sometimes logging mode change would not complete), so I presume you have an
old version on 7.31.
Talk to Tech Support, but I recall the solution for us was to rebuild
sysmaster.

If this is the case upgrade to to the current version of Informix 7.31.UD8.
