I don't know of any automatic way to do this but you
could set the CKPTINTVL=3600 or some other rediculous
number then have a daemon that executes onmode -B,
sleep 1, onmode -c however often you wish to have a
checkpoint.

I made a significant assumption with this answer, so
let me back up and query as to why you wish to
suppress fuzzy checkpoints.
