Which platform? Which problem? Did you have a bug number for it? Did you
report it to IBM/Informix?

Which platform? - We are running on HPUX 11.11i.

Which problem? - PAM doesn't work and crashes IDS

Did you have a bug number for it? - 171328 WITH PAM AUTHENTICATION
ENABLED, ACCESSING DBACCESS CRASHES THE ONLINE SERVER, I think I have
another one later on, but can't find the number at this time.

Did you report it to IBM/Informix? Yes, been working with them since
12/2004 on this problem. The call is at the point IBM saying bringing
someone onsite at our cost only way to resolve. We don't have the
budget for that.

Which version of IDS are you using?

PAM implementation has been re-written in the very latest versions
(9.40.xC8).

Rumour has it that it is f i n e on HP-UX 11i with IDS 9.40.FC7

We are on 9.40.HC3 and the 3rd party software provider we get our IDS
through is moving to 10.0 within the next 2-4 months and they are not
going to support any 9.4 versions except the HC3 version. One of the
draw backs from getting you database from your 3rd party software
provider, you can't always have the latest and greatest.

The problem we are having with PAM seems to be only related to 32-bit
version of IDS for HPUX the 64-bit version doesn't seem to have the
problem. Our 3rd party supplier will not provide 64-bit version of
their software so we are stuck with using IDS 32-bit version.

I heard rumors that IDS 10.0 had most of the PAM coding rewritten and
not know if this is true or not was wondering if anyone knew for sure.

What we where trying was to use Kerberos to authenticate with LDAP,
with IBM support we did a bunch of different configurations and I'm
can't remember what all we did. I did get an email the other day
someone got PAM working through Samba, so may try that route. All my
boss want is for me to get IDS to authenticate via LDAP, he doesn care
how, just get it done.
