Hi,

I tried to install IDS 9.4 UC5 under a linux 2.6.8 (SuSe 9.2,
minimal-installation).
Priot I installed the compat-2004.9.6-2.i586.rpm as an alternative to the
required compat-libstdc++-7.3-2.96.122.i386.rpm.

But the informix-installation fails with

etc/install: line 271: 14313 Ungültiger Maschinenbefehl ${BRAND} -n -s
${SERNUM} ${KEY} ${NAM}

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Bye
Markus

I am sure you know more about these things than me but can I ask how you
can ascertain this from his post? He says he has installed an i586.rpm
which is Intel architecture for Pentium or above. SuSE generally do not
do i686.rpm files so for Pentium II or above you would use the i586.rpm.

IDS 9.40.UC5 works straight out of the box for me with SuSE 9.2 IA32.
There is an issue with compat library but this only affects ISA. I
solved this by using the compat library from SuSE 9.1 and then
reinstalling the less comprehensive SuSE 9.2 compat library on top of it.

Ben.
