The next section = right after HPL is a discussion of the XPS ploader - which states = essentially - imagine all of the power of HPL with all of the problems = fixed. ;-). =20 The ploader is much nicer in that you have an internal table definition = and can use the 'external files' as tables. =20 Get rid of the way HPL hogs shared memory until it runs out. =20 The ploader is much eaiser to script than HPL. onpladm is cute, but = it's an afterthought, not a better solution. =20 Where there is a 2GB limit, it would be nice if the unloader dealt with = that gracefully - either announcing in the beginning that there is = insufficient space, or by creating a new unload file once it hit the 2GB = boundary. It can be a real pain to set up an unload, you think you're = ok, and then 30 minutes in it falls over because you didn't include = anough files in your device to unload your 100GB table. HPL is finicky (yes, that's a technical term) It might be easier to just = port the ploader back and get rid of the interface all together.
